Jeff, Chattanooga TN, USA
My wife and I take frequent photographic excursions. One such excursion found us in downtown Chattanooga on a Saturday, photographing buildings and the grand variety of architectural features. In the photograph above I was attempting to capture the architectural features around these windows, and had snapped a few shots when all of a sudden the yellow auto came down the street. My first thought was 'how dare this car get in the way' of my interesting but dry feature. After I returned home and saw this photo, I was most pleased that I had captured it scooting by that series of windows. I also noticed each window reflecting its own unique picture, which included my wife in the lower left window. A picture within a picture within a picture...this photo is now one of my favorites, and a favorite of many who see it.
This is my first post for the Weekend Reflections meme. Glad I found it!
Peace and blessings and fine reflections...

Yellow Redux...whY not?
We are nearing the end,
with two letters to go.
But before we reach Z,
we must stop at Yellow.
Well that was then,
and this is now.
If Jenny sees this repeat,
she'll have a cow.

she'll have a cow.
Yellow Redux...why not? When I did this Y post, I seriously did not do it in anticipation of Rainbow Colors...seriously. I hope you will find something new that you missed before. And can one ever get enough yellow? I like the color Yellow. It is not only pleasing, it is quite ubiquitous. It is an integral part of the color palette of one of my favorite regions, the American Southwest. We were once traveling in New Mexico and had planned to stay the night at the El Rancho in Gallup. If you are ever there you should by all means check it out...better yet, check in... to this neon splashed vintage, 1930s motel built especially for the movie stars and film crews who frequently visited the four corners area for movie shoots.
Well, we were headed down Route 66, and as often happens after a brief rainstorm, we spied a beautiful double rainbow. I love everything about Route 66 and beautiful rainbows...a memorable experience, and one I may never forget.

So take a peek
without further ado.
Yellow...pleasing to me
I hope for you too.

Happy 4th of July!...and The Winner Is...
Happy 4th of July to all!! This is the day to announce the winner of my 1st Annual Blogaversary Prize Giveaway.
There were nine entrants, and a total of 20 separate entries, with four of you entering all three times. I really appreciate all your hard work in selecting favorite photos, posts, and the wonderful poems and haikus.
Mrs. C and I put all entries on bits of paper, and put them in a red, white and blue bucket. Mrs C proceeded to select the winner, with her eyes closed, of course. The accounting firm of Price, Waterhouse and Coopers kept the winning entry in a safe place...for about 5 seconds:-)
Without further ado...the envelope please...and the winner is...
Christy!!
Christy's entry was a fantabulous poem...
My first visit here was months ago,
I followed a link and was amazed at the show.
The pictures exquisite,
the information sublime.
Tennessee Mudbug will always be a favorite of mine.

Thanks to all of you for your exquisite participation. As you can see from the photos below I was quite busy last night. I have mixed some abstracts in with some conventional shots. I have a special sauce that I use for my abstracts...Enjoy!
and again...HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Thrifting...Not Bad For a Guy...
I made a run to the bank this morning. The branch nearest our house is not open on Saturdays, so I had to leave the mountain. There is a branch just at the foot of the mountain that is open Saturdays. After I finished my banking business, I decided to make a quick stop at a nearby church. This relatively new "Calvary Church" was having a thrift sale to raise money to send some of their older kids on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. I really love the prices that you find at church thrift sales, and as you may know, I am always on the hunt for interesting bottles for our hummingbird feeders...and anything else that I cannot resist, or that cannot resist me:-)
Below is a picture of my "finds"...some practical, some not...Pyrex measuring cup, strainer, 3 books of interest to me, 2 bottles for hummingbird feeders, Royal Stafford collector saucer, and stone/concrete nativity scene. Can anyone tell me what the real "find" is in this group? BTW, I spent $4 for the lot...
A hummingbird actually feeding from one of our feeders...yippee!
A chipmunk munching on some snack stolen from my bird feeders
Peace and blessings...Have a Happy Fourth!
Eureka 54
The year is 2312. Ten years have passed since we first volunteered to come to Eureka 54. In these ten years we had successfully managed to establish the infrastructure and life support necessary for a new colony. Now it was time to colonize our new home. I, as senior project engineer, had "first dibs" in selecting from the pool of potential mates. Many had impressive credentials that would be necessary to successfully colonize this new outpost, Eureka 54. But would credentials be enough? My heart was telling me no. My future was on this disc I held in my hand.
"Are you sure that's the one you want?"
I felt a little lump in my throat as I peered down at my choice, held tightly in my hand. I didn't think this would be so nerve-wracking. Was I making the wrong decision? I couldn't agonize over this any longer.
I took a deep breath before managing to say, "... Yes, it is."
