Quiet Resolve

The snow gone from the ground, springtime sounds and scents blanketed her world. Her crumpled up list of resolutions lay dusty in that corner. The wrinkles of the paper secreting wishes and hopes made hastily, like pudding. The wrinkles of the paper, like the wrinkles of her face, revealing a wisdom acquired over time...understanding that winter is not a good time for change.

  3. I love the last line...Winter is indeed not a good time for change. That line is wistful, it's resigned, it's trudging through reality.

  10. Dear Jeff,
Your text is even better now that I have read it a second time! Love the imagery of the wrinkles in her face as well as the wrinkled paper. Now, I understand that 'winter' is also a metaphor for 'the winter of one's life'.
    Lovely piece.

I have written another version of my centus. You can read both if you have the time!

    Best wishes,

  14. Love it!

This happens to me every year. Come spring, resolutions are long forgotten. Winter isn't a good time for change - spring is the season of change.

Does this mean I have permission to wait til spring to work on my resolutions?

  16. How talented you are, my friend. I love the analogy of the wrinkled paper and the wrinkled skin - perfect. I agree, also, that the darkest part of the year may not be the best place to find new light. I did get new full-time job, though! Yea!

    Namaste..........cj

    Jeff.

    OK, almost wordless here.

This was an absolute gem of a little story. I felt this through my entire heart.

These words...all of them...touching and perfect.

    Thank you.
